CentrePort is an important asset to New Zealand’s supply chain, providing critical infrastructure and transport solutions to its customers.  CentrePort’s long-term resilience and success is key for both regional and national economic performance.The Marine Services Team are looking to appoint an enthusiastic person to join CentrePort in the permanent role of Launch Master.As a Launch Master your duties will include:Launch Master and Deck Hand on CentrePort’s pilot launches and relieving Tug Operator aboard our tugs.Ensuring launch and tug operations are carried out safely, in accordance with best practice, good seamanship and compliance with operating procedures.Responsible for the safe transfer of pilots to and from ships requiring pilotage.Daily pilot launch operations and maintenance.Routine and essential maintenance of launch and tug deck equipment and paint coatings.Regularly checking the condition of moorings and repairing/replacing when necessary.Assisting with the refueling of the launch and tug, and ensuring they have adequate supplies on board at all times.The skills, qualifications and experience relevant to this position, include:Recent sea going experience.Skipper Restricted Limits (minimum qualification).Restricted Radar Certificate.Restricted RT Operators Certificate.First Aid Certificate.Trained and experienced in handling water jet vessels, as well as conventional twin-screw vessels.Subscribes to Zero Harm concepts.Attendance at a sea survival course would be an advantage, as would competency in standard office computer systems such as Microsoft Office.The employee must be physically fit and be able to withstand being at sea in adverse and harsh weather conditions.  Due to the role covering 24/7 the employee must be able to work irregular hoursYou will also be required to live within a short driving distance of CentrePort.Launch Master PD AUD Wellington 6011
